We may recognise and grant credit for past education or qualifications in a process called advanced standing. If you're eligible for advanced standing, this can impact the number of units you need to study, reducing the time and cost of your overall degree. To find out more about advanced standing, get in touch with one of our Enrolment Advisors on 1300 863 819.

To qualify for entry to the Master of Information Technology Management, you need:

  • A three-year bachelor degree specialising in or majoring in information technology (or a related discipline); OR
  • Professional experience equivalent to a cognate Bachelor degree.

In both cases, you must be proficient in English.

The Master of IT Management opens up doors for a range of information and technology opportunities, from Solutions Architect to Business System Manager. The demand for qualified, competent IT management spans almost every industry.

Solutions Architect: Be in charge of the creation and implementation of technical infrastructure within a company. A real problem solver, you’ll combine your IT knowledge with managerial skills to assess the best direction your company can take.

Business Intelligence Consultant: Design intelligent business solutions for your workplace and your clients. Use your knowledge of tools and technologies to implement business solutions and manage projects. Whether you apply your technology expertise to a large organisation, an innovative start-up or your own consultancy, the varied skills you will learn in our postgraduate IT Management degrees can open up exciting opportunities including:

Systems Analyst: Enhance productivity by designing and overseeing the development of new or current systems. Use your knowledge to implement new IT solutions or improve current ones, all while strategically increasing workplace efficiency.

Chief Information Officer: Be responsible for a company’s computer systems, ensuring that you are facilitating business goals, while being reliable, resilient and secure. You’ll take charge of your corporation’s entire information architecture (including technological resources, purchases and upgrades), manage teams efficiently and provide invaluable direction.

Business Systems Manager: Oversee the evolution of information systems to ensure various areas of the workplace are running effectively and correctly.

Security Administrator: Manage the security of information systems within your workplace, such as firewalls and anti-virus software, and be responsible for ensuring the safety of the information and communications assets of the company. Develop and supervise security systems to protect company and client data.

Our Master of Information Technology Management is designed to build on the technical skills you have now, and blend that with the management and leadership skills you need.

Units in information systems management and design will develop your skills in analysis, feasibility and enterprise security, while specific units selected from our online MBA develop your capacity to manage and lead people and projects to success.

Each unit runs for seven weeks, with six study periods per year. To gain your Master of IT Management you will complete all 8 core units, and choose 4 units from either the MBA specialisation or Project Management specialisation.

There is also an option to finish earlier with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.

With technology at the forefront of business success in the 21st century, the best technological solutions are the ones that help people work smarter and more efficiently.

Information technology management focuses on knowledge of IT within business settings and analyse operations effects while exploring in-depth the techniques, tools and methods behind information systems. Information technology management also explores how innovative technologies influence and shape future business environments, and the role technologies play in society.

According to JobOutlook the average weekly salary for an Information Communication Technology (Manager) is $2,766 per week.

Advanced standing focuses primarily on receiving credit from previous academic study, such as an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, while RPL encompasses a wider range of learning experiences as well as professional work experience. Both processes provide the opportunity for you to have your prior learning recognised, thereby reducing the amount of time and effort required to complete the online Master of Information Technology (IT) Management.
