Early exit options
We know that plans change, which is why we’ve built flexible exit pathways into the online Master of Education. If you need to exit early, you could still receive a Graduate Certificate in Education, Graduate Certificate in Educational Wellbeing or a Graduate Certificate in Educational Inclusion and Diversity after completing four specific units.

To gain entry into the Masters of Education online, you need:
- A four-year bachelors degree in education from any Australian university or equivalent; OR
- an undergraduate degree and a fourth-year level teaching qualification from any Australian university or equivalent, OR
- a three-year bachelors degree in teaching and an education-specific Graduate Certificate from any Australian University, or equivalent.

Frequently asked questions
SCU Online's Master of Education is accelerated, online learning for busy teachers. The course can be completed in 16 months, part-time. SCU Online offers six intakes per year, meaning students can complete six units in a year. Students will complete 8 units in total for this course.
This course is for current and future school leaders who want to further develop their skills, drive improvement and create positive outcomes for their students, organisation and communities.

We may recognise and grant credit for past education or qualifications in a process called advanced standing. If you're eligible for advanced standing, this can impact the number of units you need to study, reducing the time and cost of your overall degree.

Alternatively, students can pick four units in total from all specialisations for a general Master of Education degree.
Advanced standing focuses primarily on receiving credit from previous academic study, such as an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, while RPL encompasses a wider range of learning experiences as well as professional work experience. Both processes provide the opportunity for you to have your prior learning recognised, thereby reducing the amount of time and effort required to complete the Master of Education online.
