Early exit options

If you need to take a break from study, our degree in Business Law has built in an early exit point. Receive a Graduate Certificate in Business Law by completing the unit Legal Institutions and Processes and three elective units.

Entry requirements

To gain entry into the Master of Business Law online, you must have:

  • A Bachelor degree in any discipline with a minimum Credit average, or equivalent; or
  • A Bachelor degree in any discipline, or equivalent, and two years of documented relevant professional experience; AND
  • Students also need to be proficient in English.

If you are a qualified lawyer, you could also be eligible for the Master of Laws (Business Law) degree.

Learning outcomes

Build your legal literacy, so you can confidently interpret and apply the law in relation to business contexts.

Develop your capacity to understand and interpret legal risks and obligations so you can implement sound decisions in corporate dealings while avoiding possible litigation.

Study two core units and select six electives in the areas of property law, competition law, consumer law, taxation, contract law or corporate governance.

Dr John Orr is a lecturer and course coordinator in Law & Justice at Southern Cross University. John has a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies from the UQ, a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours (and university medal) from SCU and a Doctor of Philosophy from QUT. John is available to provide valuable support and expertise to students studying the SCU Online Master of Laws (LLM) through:

Advanced standing focuses primarily on receiving credit from previous academic study, such as an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, while RPL encompasses a wider range of learning experiences as well as professional work experience.
