Unit description

Application of core concepts of project procurement through in structure and problem-based learning experiences. Students develop a critical ability in contract development, negotiation and incentivising: demonstrating a higher-level understanding of the project incentive-performance relationship.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of contract types, in addition to the contract-performance relationship
  • Critically evaluate theories and concepts underpinning buyer-contractor relationships as it pertains to project management
  • Demonstrate an ability to creatively negotiate project plans and incentives to achieve the highest level of group-benefit, without sacrificing performance
  • Display a higher-level ability in explaining, evaluating and developing clear legal, financial and technical components of project contracts
