Investigates the concept of wellbeing in educational contexts, and the practice of schooling initiatives that support a well profession. The role of teachers and, specifically, the school leader, in enabling wellbeing is extensively explored and then applied to the school setting.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

 

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  • Analyse the principles and concept of wellbeing and apply to educational contexts
  • Demonstrate the link between the theory and practice of educational wellbeing and the role of the teacher in enabling student wellbeing and better learning outcomes
  • Demonstrate the ability to design, plan and present a review of a wellbeing initiative in an educational setting
  • Evaluate the potential impact of wellbeing initiatives for students, parents, teachers or school leaders
