Offers the contextual, organisational and personal insights needed for healthcare professionals to lead and manage in the health, social and community care settings. Students will learn how to understand and accept individual differences, develop teams and cope with the power and politics of organisations. The contemporary complexities and dilemmas of healthcare provision in a constrained operating environment will be addressed.

Learning outcomes

  • Critique existing leadership and management theories in health, social and community services, challenging prevailing paradigms, world views, values and taken-for-granted ideas
  • Develop an evidenced-based management and leadership plan in the workplace within health, social and community services
