Strengthen your clinical leadership skills by critically appraising and implementing the available evidence-based knowledge on a chosen topic, directly relating to mental health and/or mental illness. This unit emphasises on leading the translation and application of knowledge to clinical practice settings. In this unit, you will cover:

  • Annotation of evidence
  • One specialist topic from mental health and or illness perspectives:
    • Addiction in mental health contexts
    • Lived experience of mental illness in the workforce
    • Suicide: Its drivers and mitigation
    • Psychological trauma from childhood into adulthood
  • Management of the translation of research into clinical practice
  • Clinical leadership in mental health

 

Learning outcomes

  • Relate literature-based evidence on one chosen topic to clinical contexts
  • Produce a critical appraisal of one chosen topic
  • Critically contrast the findings from the literature with that of current practice and /or policy in clinical settings
  • Apply and integrate evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice settings
  • Explain how clinical leadership in mental health will influence the translation and application from literature to practice

 

Assessment

You are assessed according to the following components, each with its own weighted value against your overall result:

  • Report - 20%
  • Essay - 30%
  • Essay and Critical Personal Reflection - 50%
